Good writing is not an accident—it comes from dedication, focus, and practice. Some scientists can write as well as the best poets. Dreamsongs Press publishes the best writing by scientists and poets. We believe that scientists and poets, though their training is different, can learn from each other, and for that purpose we bring them together to help revise each other's work and learn how the other approaches writing.

Our catalog includes scientific writing and literature by scientist writers along with some of the best poetry being written today. Our inaugural pair of books will be "The Collected Scheme Papers," (tentative title) by Guy L. Steele Jr. and "Leaf of My Puzzled Desire," by Richard P. Gabriel.

Guy L. Steele Jr. is author or co-author of five books, and over 80 papers on computing. He is considered among the best writers in Computer Science. "The Collected Scheme Papers" will include the following papers among others:

These papers created a revolution in computing when they were first published in the 1970s, and work in this area continues to this day.

Richard P. Gabriel is the author of 3 books, over 40 refereed papers, over 40 popular papers, and dozens of poems. His manuscript, "Leaf of My Puzzled Desire," was a finalist for both the National Poetry Review and the Snake Nation Press Book Prize, and won Honorable Mention for the Sawtooth Poetry Prize.
